After taking a few years off from going to Snow Camp, it was nice to be back. Although the roads were snowy on our way there, we were all safe and had many hours to spend together! As soon as we arrived on Friday night we entered into the weekend long competitions - tricycles pulling shopping carts, "blind" obstacle courses, "angry campers" (think angry birds but with kids rather than flying birds), and the most anticipated event the donut massacre! Even though our team didn't win, our kids definitely know how to have fun.
The teaching and worship sessions were great. I'm happy to report that we had several students choose to become Christ followers and many that have recommitted their lives. A lot of the students have already arranged to have at least 3 people that will help hold them accountable. We talked a lot about the importance of choosing like-minded friends and what healthy relationships look like. At the end of the weekend the students were challenged to really live out their faith by "making a difference."
The leaders and the high school student leaders are what really makes these trips as good as they are. Without these awesome volunteers that give up their weekend and their sleep, the trips that we take would not happen. I love watching the leaders and kids talk together, pray together, and play together (especially "virtual" four square). I believe that God looks at these relationships and smiles!
If you see anyone that went on the trip, feel free to ask about it...but be prepared to spend some time hearing stories.
